“Family Portraits” is a four-piece illustration set of my cats as a final proposed project for Art 112 at Cal Poly Humboldt during the Spring 2023 semester. Emphasis was placed on each cat’s distinct markings and colorations, while also keeping them simple in palette by using toned beige paper to fill in the “white space” with color. In rendering each cat the same way, it makes it seem as if each cat had their portrait taken for the family photo wall. In reality, these renderings of the cats live framed on the piano in the artist’s parents home.
