“Transition” is a series of repeating posters exploring aspects of my early transition on testosterone. Although displayed digitally, printed as 4 x 5, these posters became flyers which were spread throughout the Cal Poly Humboldt Art Department hallways, stapled and pinned into the bulletin boards for anyone to take, either for themselves or to trash. The purpose of this transition series was to give my reflections of medical transition and show the good, the bad, the ugly, and the uncertain that is not often discussed as openly in the Queer spaces I occupied while attending university.
Being trans is beautiful. It’s scary. It’s filled with uncertainty and doubts and hatred from outsiders. It is a self-induced change, but it is a change without control. “Transition” is to gain a semblance of control over my transition.
